Diabetes & Endocrine Treatment Specialists is seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our established outpatient endocrinology and diabetes practice.

We care for a large and diverse post-puberty/adult population with diabetes, thyroid disease, osteoporosis, pituitary problems, adrenal disorders, and other endocrine conditions.

Prior endocrinology and diabetes experience is preferred but not required. We can provide structured training in endocrinology and diabetes to an experienced internal medicine (IM) provider or IM subspecialty provider eager to develop deeper expertise in this high-demand area.

Minimum qualifications

Applicants must meet one of the following pathways:

• Nurse Practitioner: Current or eligible Utah APRN licensure and able to practice independently under Utah law; or

• Physician Assistant: Current or eligible Utah PA licensure with at least 10,000 hours of clinical experience in internal medicine (IM) and/or an IM subspecialty

For either pathway:

• Graduate of an accredited NP or PA program
• National board certification
• Active DEA registration or eligibility to obtain one
• Strong clinical judgment and experience managing medically complex adults
• Ability to work effectively within a physician-and-APP team
• Endocrinology or diabetes experience preferred but not required

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and manage adult endocrine and metabolic conditions
• Provide longitudinal care for patients with type 1 and type 2 diabetes
• Interpret laboratory results and adjust treatment plans
• Prescribe and monitor medications
• Review continuous glucose monitor and insulin-pump data
• Collaborate with physicians, APPs, medical assistants, educators, and research staff
• Maintain timely, accurate clinical documentation
• Participate in ongoing endocrinology, diabetes, and metabolism education and case review

Practice support

• Established patient base with strong demand - taking new patients every day - rapidly build your panel
• Full-time diabetes educator (CDCES, registered dietitian, and Master's in Nutrition) capable of in-depth patient education and pump/CGM support
• Highly trained medical assistants (MAs) who prepare charts, gather interim laboratory/imaging data, obtain CGM and insulin-pump downloads, and follow up on patient results and treatment changes on your behalf
• Virtual MA support for selected administrative tasks, prior authorizations, eligibility verification, and telephone work
• Structured endocrinology education and mentorship - on-site senior MD Endocrinologist/Diabetologist instructor meets with you for bi-weekly trainings and case reviews
• Hands-on coaching in thyroid and neck ultrasound, and ultrasound-guided FNA needle biopsies of thyroid nodules, cervical lymph nodes, and parathyroid glands
• Modern diabetes-technology training in Dexcom, Libre, Tandem, Omnipod, Minimed, and iLet systems
• On-site membership-based Medical Bariatrics Program with dedicated coaching and nursing staff providing individualized weight loss services for your patients
• On-site ultrasound and training in ultrasound-guided FNA biopsies to rule out thyroid cancer
• On-site Fibro Scan and training in Fibro Scan diagnosis and monitoring of metabolic disease-associated steatohepatitis (MASH) and associated liver fibrosis
• Regional center for immunotherapies for Type 1 diabetes and Grave's disease
• Frequent opportunities to participate in clinical research

Practice details

Mondays through Fridays, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with a 1 hr lunch break and protected administrative time for reviewing results, completing documentation, responding to patient communications, processing refills, and coordinating follow-up care.

Shared call evenings, weekends, and holidays (generally very light duty, with occasional patient calls for urgent refills or treatment instructions)
