Position: 2026/27 - Goshen Elementary - Skill Building Technician - TA123N

Instructional Technician – Skill Building

Lane 2, $17.81 per hour, 3.5 hours per day, 5 days per week, 177 days per year. Must be at least 18 years of age to apply. There are no benefits with this position. This position includes 0.5 hours per day of student supervision, paid at Lane 1 – $17.35 per hour.

Purpose Statement

The job of Instructional Technician – Skill Building is to improve students' success in basic social, behavioral and academic skills (e.g., reading, language, math, and behavior skill building) and to assist students by modeling the necessary skills to perform assignments.

This job reports to the Building Principal.

Essential Functions

  • Adapt classroom materials under the direction of the teacher to support and reinforce classroom objectives.
  • Administer tests for the purpose of assisting the teacher in evaluating students' progress.
  • Consult with teachers, parents and/or other school personnel to evaluate students' progress and implement objectives.
  • Evaluate students to determine the need for further individualized assessment and instruction.
  • Implement instructional programs and lesson plans (e.g., reading, math, language, comprehension, writing, computer) to improve students' academic success.
  • Maintain classroom equipment, work area and students' files/records to ensure availability of items and reliable information.
  • Monitor individual or groups of students to provide a safe and positive learning environment.
  • Participate in in‑service workshops and training to receive and convey job-related information.
  • Prepare subject‑specific lessons for individuals or small groups to implement goals for remediation.
  • Provide direct instructional services to individuals, small groups or classes under the supervision of the assigned classroom teacher.
  • Respond to emergency situations to resolve immediate safety concerns or direct to appropriate personnel.
  • Respond to inquiries to solve problems, provide information or referrals.
  • Perform other related duties, as assigned.

Job Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications

  • Skills
    : adhere to safety practices; operate standard office equipment including computers and software; prepare and maintain accurate records.
  • Knowledge
    : basic math; read manuals; write documents; understand multi‑step written and oral instructions; knowledge of grammar, punctuation, age‑appropriate activities, health and safety standards.
  • Ability
    : schedule activities; gather and collate data; use job‑related equipment; work with diverse individuals; problem‑solve and create action plans; maintain confidentiality; adapt to changing priorities; work as part of a team; maintain reliable attendance.

Responsibility

Responsibilities include working under direct supervision using standardized procedures, leading, guiding, or coordinating others, and operating within a defined budget.

Working Environment

Physical demands include occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and fine finger dexterity. The job requires 40% sitting, 30% walking, and 30% standing. Exposure to risk of injury or illness may occur.
