Located at the foot of the Wasatch Mountains, Waterford School, with an enrollment of 1,100 is Utah’s premier liberal arts college preparatory independent school for students in Preschool through High School. The Performing Arts Department seeks a Head of Costumes who is passionate about theatrical costume design, organization, and supporting student performers. The Head of Costumes oversees all aspects of costume planning, construction, alterations, fittings, inventory management, and maintenance for Waterford’s theatrical productions. This individual works collaboratively with directors, faculty, students, and volunteers to bring each production to life while creating an organized, efficient, and creative costume program.

The successful candidate will be able to develop positive relationships with Middle and Upper School students, work collaboratively with colleagues throughout the Performing Arts Department, and embrace Waterford School’s mission, vision, and values through artistic excellence, mentorship, and service to the school community.

Competencies and Skills Desired:

  • Experience with costume design, construction, alterations, and garment fitting
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage costume inventory and production timelines
  • Creativity and attention to detail in supporting theatrical productions
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with directors, faculty, students, and volunteers
  • Integrity, professionalism, sound judgment, and emotional intelligence
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
  • Experience working in educational theatre or with student performers is preferred
  • Familiarity with costume shop equipment, sewing machines, and garment care
