What You’ll Get To DoThe successful candidate will support the team across the full systems‑engineering life cycle, from use‑case development through verification. They will collaborate closely with Integrated Product Team (IPT) counterparts to produce rigorous systems‑engineering and design artifacts, working with technical teams and stakeholders to develop and mature a Weapon System design for a large‑scale program. Responsibilities include defining, allocating, and tracing requirements; ensuring those requirements are accurately represented in the system model;
performing functional decomposition and interface definition; and supporting verification activities. In addition, the candidate will develop the system architecture using Cameo Enterprise Architecture, modeling behavioral, structural, and analytical aspects of the solution, and contribute to ongoing requirements development, management, and analysis while establishing unifying modeling techniques, procedures, and processes that enable seamless model development, tool integration, and team collaboration.
- Principal Systems Engineer level (T‑03):
Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM discipline with 5 years of related experience, 3 years with a Master’s, 1 year with a Ph.D. - Senior Principal Systems Engineer level (T‑04):
Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM discipline with 8 years of related experience, 6 years with a Master’s, 4 years with a Ph.D. - Active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope, investigation date within the last 6 years.
- Special Access Program (SAP) clearance with access to CJ1.
- Experience with Agile.
- Experience leading SE events (e.g., PDR, CDR).
- Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Experience resolving issues and providing technical support.
- Capable of working with minimal direction and in team environments.
- Familiar with Teamcenter/Common Product Lifecycle Management (CPLM).
- Familiar with SE events (e.g., Preliminary Design Review (PDR), Critical Design Review (CDR)).
- 2+ years’ experience in Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles (ICBMs) (Minuteman III (MMIII) or Sentinel) or complex aerospace/defense systems.
- 2+ years’ experience in developing and executing Systems Engineering (SE) process governance documentation in a Department of Defense (DoD) Engineering and Manufacturing Development (EMD) phase.
- 2+ years’ experience in creating, updating, and maintaining requirements specifications in Dynamic Object‑Oriented Requirements System (DOORS).
- 2+ years’ experience on large scale/complex system development across multiple phases of a development program: preliminary design, detailed design, integration and test, verification, and sale off, transition to production.
- 2+ years’ experience in creating, updating, and maintaining Model‑Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) products.
- 3+ years’ experience with Systems Engineering (SE) principles.

The position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine‑hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate’s experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
