Overview
The Equipment Specialist at BD Infusion Therapy Systems, Inc. is responsible for the maintenance, calibration, troubleshooting, and repair of a wide range of infusion therapy equipment, ensuring optimal performance and compliance with all relevant regulations.

Responsibilities- Perform routine preventative maintenance, calibration, and functional testing on infusion pumps, IV poles, patient monitors, and other related medical devices.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues with equipment, identifying root causes and implementing effective repair solutions.
- Execute repairs, including part replacement, software updates, and mechanical adjustments, adhering to manufacturer specifications and company protocols.
- Document all maintenance and repair activities accurately and thoroughly in the equipment management system.
- Provide technical support and training to clinical staff on the proper operation, care, and basic troubleshooting of infusion equipment.
- Collaborate with clinical engineering and other departments to ensure timely and efficient equipment availability.
- Maintain an organized and accurate inventory of spare parts and tools.
- Adhere to all safety guidelines, quality standards, and regulatory requirements (e.g., FDA, ISO) relevant to medical device maintenance.
- Participate in equipment installation, de-installation, and relocation projects as needed.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of equipment maintenance processes and procedures.
- Associate's degree in Biomedical Engineering Technology, Electronics, or a related technical field, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in the maintenance and repair of medical devices, preferably within an acute care or infusion therapy setting.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot and repair complex electronic and mechanical systems.
- Strong understanding of medical device regulations and quality standards (e.g., ISO 13485).
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with clinical staff and colleagues.
- Proficient in using computer-based equipment management systems and standard office software.
- Ability to lift and move equipment up to 50 pounds and perform duties requiring bending, stooping, and standing for extended periods.
- Valid driver's license may be required for travel between facilities.
