Accounting Manager - Financial Reporting

Overview

Wolverine Fuels has an immediate opening for a full-time Accounting Manager - Financial Reporting in its Sandy office.

Reporting and Fixed Assets. The reporting component of the position requires processing of system generated financial statements (Spreadsheet Server – SAP). Along with system reports generation, a solid knowledge of Excel Spreadsheet management, creation, and data manipulation is required. The ability to understand accounting principles, system accounting flows, and written communication of financial analysis and period results is essential. Knowledge of PowerPoint and Adobe Acrobat report generation and manipulation is very valuable.

• Manages the monthly accumulation and compilation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial information for the purpose of internal and external reporting requirements.
• Develops the financial highlights narrative, conducts budget variance analysis of key financial categories, and maintains monthly production, safety, compliance, and personnel performance charts.
• Oversees all aspects of fixed asset expenditures, additions, retirements, depreciation, and the monthly CAPEX expenditures chart.
• Gathers Mine Manager Cost Analysis & Savings Initiatives, compiles PowerPoint presentations and PDF Executive & Mine Presentations, and reviews the financial packet for accuracy prior to submission for next level review.
• Conducts State Property Tax Reporting: reporting of fixed asset additions and retirements to respective state taxing authorities (CO and UT); coordinates state tax financial forecasts with the budget/finance team; summarizes anticipated tax effects of asset additions and retirements on property taxes; updates annual property tax accrual calculations; coordinates timely payment of property taxes.
• Performs technical accounting and analysis: assists in writing technical accounting memos and documenting company accounting policies; supports annual audits; provides ad hoc analysis as needed; maintains a strong understanding of GAAP and FASB pronouncements.
• Completes Census Reports as part of Annual Report of Organization, Capital Expenditures Survey, and US Energy Information data collection.

• Must have a B.S. in Accounting or a related field with equivalent practical experience.
• Must have 5 years of practical financial experience in the mining industry.
• Must have excellent technical, communication, and human relations skills.
