Job Description
A Medical assistant has accountability for providing care to patients in an ambulatory clinic setting. This will involve caring for patients with acute and chronic needs. The role includes communicating clearly with patients seeking care through different modalities, including telephone and in-person interactions.
Shift Details24 hours/week, Part Time. Clinic hours are Monday‑Friday 9:00 am‑5:00 pm. Scheduled shifts:
Monday, Thursday, and Friday 8:30 am‑5:00 pm.
Alta View Pediatrics, Alta View Clinic, Sandy, Utah.
Responsibilities- Providing Patient Care:
Under the direction of the Clinician, assist the provider to gather information related to the patient’s visit and condition. - Effective Communication:
Communicate clearly with patients seeking care through telephone and in‑person interactions. - Team
Collaboration:
Work with cross‑functional teams to collaborate on patient care. Attention to detail and follow‑through are key.
- Proof of completion of a Medical Assistant program OR at least one year of Medical Assistant work experience OR current active and in good standing RN/LPN license to practice nursing in the state of Utah.
- Current Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers, obtained prior to start date.
- Demonstrated basic computer skills involving word processing and data entry.
- Professional manner and strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with patients and fellow caregivers to deliver the highest level of patient satisfaction.
- Ability to protect privacy, confidentiality, and Protected Health Information (PHI) of patients, members, and caregivers.
- Utah Only:
If certified with less than one year of MA experience, caregivers may attend a yearlong MA residency program.
- Experience in an outpatient clinic or other healthcare setting.
- Computer literacy in using electronic medical records (EMR) systems and other relevant software.
- Current national MA certification from one of the following national MA certifications or registrations:
Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) of AMT, National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA), Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA), or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) of the AAMA.
- Ongoing need to see, read information, and assess patient needs.
- Verbal communication and ability to hear and understand spoken information quickly and accurately.
- Manual dexterity for manipulating complex equipment, frequent computer use, typing, and medication preparation.
- Ability to lift and transfer patients and carry supplies of varying weights up to heavy items.
- Ability to walk, transport patients, and navigate crowded rooms with equipment.
- May be required to stand for extended periods.
- For roles requiring driving:
Expected to drive safely, using vision and hearing to interpret traffic signals.
Scheduled weekly hours: 24. Hourly range: $20.07 – $28.59, depending on experience.
