Physician Assistant, Cardiac Electrophysiology-EP Job Summary

The Division of Cardiology is seeking a motivated, enthusiastic individual to join our Cardiac Electrophysiology team. The position is outpatient-based and may involve virtual, outreach, and/or community clinic participation. In this position, the individual will be involved with an interdisciplinary team of physicians, fellows, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses, and other staff to coordinate the care of patients with cardiac arrhythmias, pacemakers, and defibrillators.

• Assesses the physical condition of patients by performing physical examinations and obtaining medical histories.
• Formulates a medical plan based on the patient''s condition
• Consults with physician(s) regarding patient health care plans and treatment.
• Orders, interprets, and evaluates diagnostic tests to identify and assess the patient''s clinical problems and health care needs.
• Performs selected procedures for therapeutic and/or diagnostic reasons within the scope of practice.
• Initiates and/or recommends medical drug therapies or other forms of related therapeutic treatment and procedures in accordance with approved policy.
• Complies with medical records policies regarding the complete and accurate documentation of patient care. Initiates and maintains required records and legal documents.
• Participates in quality improvement activities.
• Educates patients regarding medical conditions and promotes health maintenance.
• Evaluates, plans, implements, and re-evaluates the care of individuals requiring emergency measures.

• Ability to provide care appropriate to the population served.
• Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his or her assigned unit.
• Demonstrated knowledge of the principles of life span growth and development, and the ability to assess data regarding the patient''s status and provide care as described in the department''s policies and procedures manual.

• Current licensure to practice as a Physician Assistant from the State of Utah.
• Current RQI Healthcare Provider eCredential through the University of Utah Health RQI system. The eCredential is to be obtained within 30 days of hire.

• Certification in ACLS/BLS/NRP/ATLS may be required by your department or by privileging criteria.
