Machine Shop Supervisor

As a Production Supervisor at BD's Sandy manufacturing facility, you'll oversee machine shop and production operations, driving safety, quality, and operational excellence in the manufacture of critical medical device components. You'll lead and develop a high-performing team, optimize production performance, and champion continuous improvement in a fast-paced environment. • Production Planning & Scheduling:
  Schedule and prioritize jobs using ERP systems (Job Boss preferred). Coordinate workflow across multiple work centers to meet production goals and deadlines.
• Team Leadership & Development:
  Lead, coach, and develop team members, including hiring, training, mentoring, and performance management. Foster a collaborative, accountable, and safety-first team environment.
• Operational Excellence:
  Monitor daily production performance and track important metrics to drive efficiency and throughput. Analyze manufacturing processes and implement improvements to reduce cycle time and improve efficiency. Ensure optimal machine utilization and proper equipment handling.
• Quality & Compliance:
  Ensure adherence to all quality standards, GMPs, and company procedures. Maintain compliance with safety regulations (including hazardous materials and waste handling). Partner with quality teams to resolve issues and improve overall product quality.
• Technical Oversight:
  Support CNC machining operations including setup, programming, and troubleshooting. Collaborate with tooling vendors to source and improve work holding and cutting tools. Assist with equipment maintenance, minor troubleshooting, and uptime optimization.
• Continuous Improvement:
  Drive lean initiatives and continuous improvement efforts across the operation. Find opportunities to improve processes, reduce waste, and enhance output.
• Additional Responsibilities:
  Train employees on equipment use, maintenance, and safety standards. Manage resources, including external vendors, to support production goals. Perform other duties as assigned.

• Education & Experience:
  
  High school diploma or equivalent experience required.
• Minimum 5+ years of machine shop experience, including 3+ years in a leadership or supervisory role.
• Experience in CNC machining environments required.
• Technical
  
  Skills:
  
  Strong blueprint reading and interpretation skills. Experience with ERP systems (Job Boss preferred). Proficiency in CNC setup and programming (Mastercam preferred). Knowledge of tooling, materials, and machining processes. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel).
