Our Veterinary Technician career ladder is designed to support professional growth through structured training, mentorship, and competency-based advancement. Depending on your experience candidates may be hired as a Veterinary Technician I, II, or III.
You'll work alongside experienced veterinarians, board-certified radiologists, and specialists while developing expertise in advanced anesthesia, MRI, CT, ultrasound, radiography, neuro-imaging, and nuclear medicine.

Technician I team members develop the core clinical and technical skills required to support advanced imaging procedures while working under the guidance of experienced technicians and veterinarians.
Primary ResponsibilitiesPatient Care
- Provide compassionate nursing care throughout each patient's visit.
- Obtain patient histories and perform patient assessments.
- Utilize Fear Free® and low-stress handling techniques.
- Collect diagnostic samples and place intravenous catheters.
- Maintain accurate medical records.
Imaging & Anesthesia Support
- Prepare patients for sedation and anesthesia.
- Assist with anesthesia induction, monitoring, and recovery.
- Prepare patients and equipment for ultrasound and other imaging procedures.
- Maintain anesthesia equipment and procedure readiness.
Clinical Operations
- Maintain treatment and imaging areas.
- Support efficient patient flow.
- Follow hospital safety and infection prevention protocols.
- Participate in ongoing training and competency development.
Technician II team members have demonstrated competency in all Technician I responsibilities and perform advanced imaging and anesthesia responsibilities with increasing independence.
Primary ResponsibilitiesAdvanced Imaging
- Perform CT and MRI patient preparation and positioning.
- Operate CT and MRI equipment following established protocols.
- Select imaging protocols and evaluate image quality.
- Administer intravenous contrast media.
- Archive imaging studies in PACS.
Advanced Anesthesia
- Independently monitor anesthetized patients.
- Interpret anesthetic monitoring trends.
- Identify and communicate anesthetic concerns.
- Perform independent anesthesia recovery.
Clinical Excellence
- Maintain imaging safety standards.
- Support efficient workflow across advanced imaging services.
- Continue developing expertise across imaging modalities.
Technician III team members serve as highly skilled imaging professionals capable of independently performing advanced imaging procedures while mentoring other technicians and supporting quality initiatives.
Primary ResponsibilitiesIndependent Imaging
- Independently perform CT, MRI, and Nuclear Medicine (Scintigraphy) studies.
- Determine appropriate imaging protocols.
- Troubleshoot image artifacts.
- Coordinate complex imaging cases.
Quality Assurance
- Perform equipment quality assurance.
- Ensure compliance with imaging protocols and regulatory standards.
- Participate in workflow improvements and SOP development.
