We are seeking a highly experienced Principal Software Engineer to provide technical leadership across enterprise applications, APIs, and distributed systems. This individual will play a key role in driving engineering best practices, influencing architectural direction, and mentoring development teams while helping modernize existing platforms and applications.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on, full-stack engineer with deep expertise in APIs, microservices, and complex system integrations. This role requires strong collaboration skills and the ability to lead through influence rather than direct management. Experience working in primarily on-premise environments is important, while cloud-native experience is highly desirable to support future modernization initiatives.

• Lead the design and development of scalable APIs, microservices, and distributed systems
• Influence technical direction and engineering standards across multiple teams
• Provide hands-on expertise across full-stack development using modern front-end and back-end technologies
• Mentor engineers and promote best practices in architecture, coding standards, performance, and reliability
• Support modernization efforts for legacy and on-premise applications
• Partner with engineering leadership, architects, and product teams to align technology solutions with business goals
• Drive improvements in system scalability, resiliency, observability, and integration patterns
• Evaluate and support adoption of emerging technologies including AI/ML, LLMs, and event-driven architectures
• Serve as a technical escalation point for complex engineering challenges

• 15+ years of professional software engineering experience in enterprise environments
• Proven experience designing and building APIs, microservices, and distributed systems
• Strong full-stack development background with technologies such as Java, Python, React, and/or Go
• Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes
• Strong understanding of system integrations, API security, and authentication standards (OAuth2, JWT)
• Experience working within Agile development environments
• Strong understanding of relational and non-relational databases including Postgre

• Ability to influence teams, mentor engineers, and lead through technical expertise
