Responsibilities
The part‑time Purchasing Assistant provides clerical and other support services in the purchasing department, including purchase orders, requisitions, maintaining files, and answering telephones.
Essential Functions- Changes purchase orders in People Soft for end user such as price, product information, contact information, and cancellation.
- Reviews, processes, distributes, and closes requisitions and purchase orders.
- Maintains purchasing documents, files, databases, and records (e.g. requests for proposal, bid files, contracts) for documentation and compliance with established policies and regulatory guidelines.
- Performs clerical task such as answering the telephones, scheduling, copying, faxing, and proofreading documents.
- Provides information and assistance on purchasing policies, procedures, and services.
- Obtains from vendors for requested commodities and services the ordering information, pricing, availability, and delivery date.
- Assists with opening, recording, and tabulating competitive solicitation responses from vendors.
- Performs other duties as may be required or assigned.
- Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma.
- One year experience in an office environment.
- One year experience in purchasing.
- Knowledge of purchasing practices and procedures.
- Knowledge of and ability to interpret College policies and procedures.
- Excellent Microsoft Office 365 skills (including Outlook, Word, Excel), and ability to become proficient in MS Teams.
- Ability to understand both oral and written instructions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to plan and organize job responsibilities and priorities; ability to work independently.
- Ability to interact effectively and maintain good working relations with all levels of management, staff, and suppliers.
- Demonstrates a professional, courteous demeanor.
- Committed to working in a multi-cultural environment.
- Works in an office environment.
- Acceptable hearing and eyesight with or without correction.
- Extended periods of sitting, viewing a computer screen, and typing on a computer keyboard.
- May travel between campuses and other in-district locations.

$15 Hourly up to 26 hours per week.
