Teaching Faculty – Medical Laboratory Technology

Responsibilities

This is a temporary, full-time non-bargaining faculty position and is not on track for continuing contract. The standard contract length is 228 days, however, other contract lengths may be available depending on department needs. Assigned campus locations may vary due to enrollment.

• Attending college wide meetings and trainings at various campuses and locations

• P lans, organizes, and teaches Medical Laboratory Technology classes as assigned.
• Makes use of professional growth opportunities, including but not limited to the Seminole State Faculty Center for Teaching and Learning.
• Incorporates teaching strategies relevant to academic discipline that foster student learning, success and retention.
• Engages students and supports student learning success in and beyond the classroom.
• Works effectively, respectfully and productively with people.
• Maintains required office hours to provide assistance to students, both individually and in small groups. Counsels students in matters relating to academic progress.
• Works with other faculty in support of curriculum improvement as appropriate to promote students’ success and mastery of course and program competencies.
• Complies with College policies and procedures in accordance with required deadlines.
• Participates in day, evening, and weekend program staffing as required. Assigned campus location may vary due to enrollment.
• Participates in committee work as requested.
• Contributes to a collegial and collaborative work environment.
• Becomes actively involved with the diverse community that the College serves.
• Works with other College departments to engage community partners that support the College Mission and Vision.
• Performs all site and position specific responsibilities as assigned. Tasks may include, but are not limited to, ordering and maintaining necessary supplies and equipment; participating in discipline related student activities and attends graduation.
• Maintains current licensure and knowledge of discipline and teaching methods.

• Provides leadership for the administration, planning, implementation, evaluation, and continuous improvement of the Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) program.
• Ensures compliance with institutional policies, NAACLS accreditation standards, state regulations, and professional certification requirements.
• Coordinates accreditation and program assessment, including reports, documentation, outcomes data, continuous quality improvement, and required performance measures.
• Develops course schedules and coordinates program offerings to support student progression and timely completion.
• Coordinates clinical education, including affiliation agreements, clinical placements, and communication with clinical sites to ensure quality learning experiences.
• Builds and maintains partnerships with clinical affiliates, advisory committee members, employers, professional organizations, and other community stakeholders; serves as the program liaison.
• Facilitates advisory committee activities and implements recommendations to enhance program quality and workforce relevance.
• Leads recruitment, outreach, marketing, admissions support, and community engagement to promote enrollment and program visibility.
• Oversees program resources, including laboratories, equipment, supplies, instructional technology, facilities, and budget recommendations.
• Maintains program records and prepares reports related to enrollment, student outcomes, accreditation, clinical education, and program effectiveness.
• Collaborates with college leadership, faculty, and staff on strategic planning, program growth, workforce initiatives, and overall program success.
• Supports faculty and clinical instructors through orientation, onboarding, mentoring, and professional development.
