Mechanical Engineer

Position Overview

Mechanical Engineer – Full time permanent position at Domtar location in Sanford, Florida, United States.

• Preventive and predictive maintenance: develop and implement maintenance schedules to maximize equipment uptime and minimize breakdowns.
• Troubleshooting and repair: diagnose and resolve mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues.
• Installation and upgrades: recommend and implement upgrades or modifications to improve equipment performance and reliability.
• Safety and compliance: ensure all maintenance activities comply with health, safety, environmental regulations including OSHA and EPA standards.
• Record‑keeping: maintain detailed and accurate records of maintenance activities using CMMS.
• Collaboration:
  
  work with production, operations and management teams to coordinate maintenance schedules and support projects.
• Leadership: lead the mechanical maintenance crew in the absence of the supervisor and oversee contractors.
• Planning: develop job planning and project planning skills to assist with outage planning.

• Proven analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Deep understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
• Ability to work in challenging environments.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Excellent computer skills with SAP, MS Office, scheduling software;
  AutoCAD is an asset.

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Preferred 2‑6 years of experience working in an industrial mill as a Mechanical/Maintenance Engineer.
• Experience on projects with operating company or engineering firm is an asset.
• Experience in construction management and/or maintenance in industrial/process plant environment.
• Ability to work with all levels of the organization, including management committee and senior leaders.
