Role

PEG is seeking motivated individuals interested in Energy Sustainability and Building Energy Performance of New Residential Construction. This position requires certification as a HERS Rater. Learn more net.us.

New employees will receive paid on-the-job training to perform Home Energy Audits in accordance with RESNET Guidelines, including visual inspections, data collection, energy features evaluation, and testing equipment usage.

The geographical area includes a 100-mile radius with Sanford, FL at its center.

Essential Functions
  • Perform Home Energy Audits in accordance with New Construction RESNET/Energy Star Guidelines including visual inspections of materials and control assemblies; data collection and observation of energy efficient features (model and serial numbers of relevant equipment; quality and installation of duct work, insulation, framing, air sealing, ventilation, etc.).
  • Utilize equipment to test system performance (infiltration and blower door testing, ventilation testing, duct leakage testing, building air flow and pressure testing).
  • Adjust system settings to meet design or manufacturer specifications.
  • Actively develop relationships with builders and code officials through professional communication.
  • Prepare an electronic written report of audit findings and complete any necessary paperwork for internal reporting.
  • Maintain equipment per company policy and manufacturer specifications.
  • Complete other assigned third-party inspections within the geographical area.
Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED or Vocational Certificate in the Skilled Trades
  • HERS Rater, Energy Star, Green Building, ACCA 310 HVAC Grading, IECC, HVAC EPA, BPI, and LEED certifications are a plus
  • 2 years of work experience in HVAC, home remodeling, or construction is helpful
Physical Demands
  • Must be physically able to fulfill job functions, including lifting up to 50 lbs, carrying equipment, climbing ladders, working in confined spaces (attics/crawl spaces), and using small tools and testing equipment
  • Must enjoy working outdoors
Additional Requirements
  • Must be personable, enthusiastic, well-groomed, articulate, and able to convey technical information in plain language
  • Must be adaptable as audit/inspections will fluctuate with client construction schedules
  • Must be organized, dependable, self-directed, and able to complete projects with limited supervision
  • Must be willing to obtain additional certifications/licenses as required
  • Valid driver’s license in good standing with insurable driving record
  • Must have reliable transportation and the ability to travel daily to job sites
  • Must be willing to undergo a background check and/or drug testing, in accordance with local law/regulations
