Overview
The Human Resource Generalist will run the daily functions of the Human Resource (HR) department including hiring and interviewing staff, administering pay, benefits, and leave, and enforcing company policies and practices. This role is hands-on and fast-paced. You will operate across multiple HR functions in a lean environment and will have significant ownership and autonomy.
Responsibilities- Acts as a primary HR point of contact for employees and leaders, providing guidance on policies, employee relations, and performance matters.
- Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; and training and development.
- Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
- Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
- Contributes to and leads HR projects focused on onboarding, offboarding, process improvements, and HR operations.
- Maintains accurate employee data within the HRIS and supports reporting, metrics, and surveys as needed. Collaborates with HRIS leadership to help ensure systems are functioning effectively, assists with updates and data audits, and provides day-to-day support to managers and employees regarding HR system inquiries.
- Compiles or assists with the acquisition of complex data reports, summaries, and logs for senior executives and HR staff.
- Supports office operations and assists with employee engagement initiatives and internal events.
- Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, creates and delivers training as needed.
- Conducts or acquires background checks and employee eligibility verifications.
- Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
- Assists with reviewing payroll inputs for accuracy and compliance, partnering with Payroll as needed to help resolve discrepancies and support timely processing.
- Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; ability to interpret and apply policies.
- Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- UKG Pro Suites (Pro, WFM, Learn, Onboarding, and Recruiting Gateway).
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.

- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
- Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
- Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Ability to handle in-person employee inquiries, assess issues quickly, and resolve matters independently when appropriate.
- Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization’s HRIS and talent management systems.
- Bilingual (English and Spanish).
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
- At least 2-3 years of human resource management experience preferred.
- SHRM-CP a plus.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
- Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities.
