Maintenance Mechanic II PRN – HCA Florida Lake Monroe Hospital

Under general supervision, the Maintenance Mechanic II PRN is responsible for corrective and preventive maintenance on all fixed and movable facility assets. The role provides a safe and comfortable work environment for employees, patients and visitors by maintaining heating, ventilation & air conditioning and refrigeration equipment for the hospital, grounds and hospital properties.

Provide safe and comfortable work environment for employees, patients and visitors by maintaining repairs and maintenance of heating, ventilation & air conditioning and refrigeration equipment.

Responsibilities
  • Perform preventative, corrective, and emergent maintenance procedures on building mechanical/plumbing equipment; inspect and change belts, check fluid levels, replace filters, clear clogged drains, and assist in other plumbing repairs under the guidance of a licensed plumber.
  • Maintain boiler room, mechanical room, and utility system logs in the absence of certified technicians or as directed by supervisor during after‑hour operations.
  • Perform preventative, corrective, and emergent maintenance procedures on building lighting and alarm systems; dispose/store used lamps/ballast according to department policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Respond to system alarms, acknowledge alarms, reset or take corrective actions under the guidance of certified technicians; perform maintenance of the built environment.
  • Replace broken/damaged screens, blinds, shades and ceiling tiles; install and hang pictures, shelves, signs, racks, whiteboards, and the like; install, maintain, and repair all types of doors, furniture, and fixtures; move furniture, fixtures and equipment using assistive devices and proper body mechanics.
  • Adhere to all safety and security programs and policies, Standard Operating Procedures, Joint Commission compliance standards and the organization’s “Environment of Care” and “Life Safety” policies; report deficiencies to supervisor regarding fire and smoke rated doors/frames, “Above Ceiling Program,” and means of egress concerns.
  • Receive and forward communications regarding facilities management issues to the immediate supervisor via phone, logbook entries, or approved electronic format; follow work order procedures and monitor/close orders through the CMMS.
  • Monitor and respond to weather conditions to ensure entrance ways are cleaned of debris and/or salted during after‑hour operations; perform roof and area checks to secure buildings during adverse weather; initiate first‑response actions during emergency or contingency situations in accordance with established policies.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment; keep all tools and equipment clean and in good working order.
  • Provide maintenance coverage for after‑hour maintenance calls through the Call Back Rotation schedule and perform similar or related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Post‑secondary school or vocational training preferred.
  • Courses in plumbing, electrical, carpentry, welding, sheet metal, automotive repair, ventilation, and clinical engineering preferred.
  • Two to four years’ experience in plant operations and/or building maintenance in a healthcare environment.
