Our client is currently seeking experienced and dynamic healthcare professionals to fill the role of Director of Med-Surg. The Director will provide leadership for planning, management, implementation, integration, and coordination of the Med-Surg unit, supporting facility goals dedicated to excellence, effective leadership, and financial stability.
Responsibilities:- Enhance Department Performance:
Implement performance improvement strategies and ensure appropriate utilization of resources to enhance the overall performance of the Med-Surg department. - Operational System Development:
Develop and implement an operational system that supports a seamless flow of patients through the continuum of care. - Education Program Development:
Facilitate the development of a comprehensive education program for both patients and staff. - Physician
Collaboration:
Collaborate with physicians to provide leadership throughout the department, ensuring effective communication and cooperation. - Technology Evaluation:
Evaluate and make recommendations regarding new technology and services to enhance patient care and department efficiency. - Interdisciplinary
Collaboration:
Proactively collaborate with interdisciplinary team members, focusing on patient and family outcomes. Coordinate multi-disciplinary patient care conferences for high-risk or medically complex patients. - Research Leadership:
Lead research projects under the Institutional Review Board (IRB) to contribute to advancements in healthcare. - Program and Project Planning:
Direct the development of specific short and long-range programs and project plans to achieve facility objectives. - Personnel Management:
Effectively interview, select, and manage qualified personnel to meet department objectives. Ensure hiring practices align with Affirmative Action/EEO practices and regulations. - Staff Direction and Performance:
Provide direction to staff and supervisors, reviewing performance and approving staff evaluations. Take appropriate disciplinary action as needed.
- Bachelor’s Degree (consideration for ASN candidates, but higher education preferred for Directors)
- 5-10+ years of RN experience in an acute hospital setting, with 3-5+ years of progressive leadership experience (Manager, Director level)
- NIH Stroke Scale must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
- Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) or Registered Nurse (RN) licensure
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Instructor must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Instructor must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
