Industrial Electrical and Controls Technician

Domtar is a leading producer of pulp, paper, packaging, tissue and wood products. The Sanford, Florida location seeks a full‑time, permanent Industrial Electrical and Controls Technician to support the site’s operations.

Responsibilities
  • Participate in safety programs and enforce safety standards for all electrical maintenance operations.
  • Troubleshoot equipment failures and conduct necessary repairs to minimize unscheduled downtime.
  • Collaborate with Production and Maintenance personnel during transition from project construction to daily operations.
  • Utilize the Maintenance Work Order System (i‑Maint) to process work orders, schedule weekly tasks, plan PM activities, and update the equipment database.
  • Perform periodic inspections of equipment and systems to monitor operating conditions and identify repair or adjustment needs.
  • Execute preventative maintenance activities—including troubleshooting and repairs—to all equipment, hydraulic systems, conveyors, and pumps in a timely manner.
  • Communicate updates to the supervisor to maintain production and quality goals.
  • Respond to call‑in work requests as required.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years of industrial automation and controls electrical experience in a multi‑craft environment.
  • Electrical Journeyman certification or equivalent industrial experience preferred.
  • Preference for candidates with pulp and paper industry experience.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of electrical and instrumentation fields, including instrumentation control design theory.
  • Demonstrated ability to balance priorities that meet short‑ and long‑term objectives using organized and efficient work methods.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with an ability to work collaboratively in a fast‑paced and structured environment.
  • Strong problem‑solving, organizational, and safety‑focused mindset.
