CNC Machinist Day Shift

Produce machined parts by using manual and/or automated (CNC) lathes to fill work orders while maintaining quality and safety standards.

• Machine parts to specifications using machine tools such as manual or CNC lathes, milling machines, prototrak mill, or grinders
• Operate hand lathe, mill, drill press and punch press
• Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and specifications to select and program proper speeds and feeds for various metals and operating conditions
• Select the appropriate tools, machines, and materials to be used
• Lay out, measure, and mark workpiece to display placement of cuts
• Position workpiece on the drill press, lathe, or milling machine
• Monitor the feed and speed of machines and accuracy of cuts during the machining process
• Observe and listen to operating machines or equipment to diagnose malfunctions and determine need for adjustments or repairs
• Write basic programs and modify programs for CNC machines in response to problems
• Supervise the CNC machines while they execute tasks and make necessary adjustments to improve results
• Measure, examine, and test completed units to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications using precision instruments such as micrometers
• 2 years of GibbsCAM experience required
• Must be able to use a tape measure, calipers, micrometers, and understand radius gauges
