Aero Mech is seeking a Senior Structural Mechanic and Part Fabricator to support aircraft modification and production activities at the Sanford, FL facility. This senior-level position is responsible for independently fabricating, assembling, fitting, drilling, and riveting complex structural components and avionics-related assemblies used in aircraft upgrade and installation programs. The ideal candidate brings extensive hands-on aircraft structural experience, strong technical judgment, and the ability to interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and work instructions while consistently producing high-quality work in a fast-paced aviation environment.

The Senior Structural Mechanic and Part Fabricator is also expected to serve as a technical resource to less-experienced team members and support continuous improvement, quality, and production objectives.

Key Responsibilities Independently fabricate and assemble complex aircraft structural components and avionics-related parts from blueprints, engineering drawings, sketches, and work instructions

Perform precision assembly, fitting, drilling, countersinking, reaming, and riveting operations to required specifications and close tolerances

Set up and proficiently use pneumatic drills, rivet guns, countersinks, files, reamers, measurement tools, and related fabrication equipment

Read, interpret, and apply work orders, blueprints, engineering drawings, sketches, specifications, and operation sheets with minimal supervision

Determine appropriate rivet sizes, hole patterns, edge distances, assembly sequences, and fabrication methods based on engineering requirements

Align, fit, and assemble parts using jigs, fixtures, clamps, pins, fasteners, and other tooling while maintaining dimensional accuracy

Perform in-process and final self-inspections to verify completed work conforms to engineering, quality, and workmanship standards

Troubleshoot fit, alignment, fabrication, and assembly issues; perform rework and corrective actions in accordance with approved requirements

Identify potential quality, manufacturability, tooling, or process issues and escalate or recommend corrective actions as appropriate

Provide technical guidance, coaching, and hands-on support to less-experienced mechanics and fabricators; support additional fabrication and installation activities as assigned

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required; technical or aviation maintenance training preferred

Minimum of 5 years of aircraft structural fabrication, aircraft modification, sheet metal, manufacturing, or closely related aviation assembly experience required

Demonstrated experience fabricating parts from raw material

Experience with sheet-metal fabrication equipment such as brakes, shears, drill presses, saws, deburring equipment, and CNC equipment.

Layout experience involving bend lines, bend allowances, setbacks, radii, hole locations, and dimensional tolerances.

Support prototype and first-article fabrication and working with Engineering and Quality to resolve fit, drawing, or manufacturability issues.

Somehow include, the senior-level expectations of training, mentoring, and providing technical guidance to less-experienced structures technicians.

Advanced ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, specifications, and work instructions

Demonstrated ability to perform precision fabrication and assembly work to close tolerances with minimal supervision

Strong working knowledge of aircraft structural fabrication tools, shop equipment, drilling, countersinking, reaming, riveting, and fastening methods

Basic computer skills required; ability to navigate electronic work instructions, drawings, and production documentation preferred

Proficiency in shop math and precision measurements using fractions, decimals, scales, calipers, and other measuring tools as applicable

Strong attention to detail with a demonstrated record of quality workmanship and adherence to specifications

Ability to read, understand, and consistently follow written procedures, engineering requirements, and safety standards

Proven ability to work independently, exercise sound technical judgment, prioritize work, and collaborate effectively within a team environment

Experience working with composite materials and resins is a plus; prior experience mentoring or training junior mechanics is preferred

Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

Ability to stand for extended periods

Ability to climb ladders, stands, and stairs

Ability to work in small or restricted spaces as required

Ability to perform repetitive fabrication and assembly tasks

Ability to work any shift as operationally required

Travel Requirements Travel up to 25% may be required
