Job Summary And QualificationsWe are seeking a dynamic First Assist RN to join our healthcare team. Your primary function is to perform as the surgeon’s assistant in the operating room, during evaluations, procedures, care management, and follow‑up. You would be part of a phenomenal team that works hard to support each other while providing excellent care to our patients in a collaborative manner.
In this role you will:- Provide assistance in emergency procedures as well as elective and scheduled cases.
- Serve as a liaison between the surgical team and the patients’ families.
- Assess patients before, during, and after surgery and maintain a sterile operating room.
- Perform count procedures to protect patients from unintended retained foreign objects and perform interventions necessary to ensure the patient’s procedure is performed on the correct site, side, and level.
- Perform interventions throughout the surgical procedure to maintain the status of the patient’s genitourinary, gastrointestinal, musculoskeletal, endocrine, respiratory, cardiovascular, and neurological systems, and fluid, electrolyte, and acid‑base balances at or above baseline levels.
- Actively involve patient or designated support person in decisions affecting their post‑perioperative plan of care and the rehabilitation process.
- Associate’s Degree in Nursing or Diploma in Nursing required.
- Florida RN license and/or approved multistate RN license required. Compact license holders have 60 days to obtain the Florida license after relocation.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support, or BCLS Instructor, must be obtained within 30 days of start.
- American Heart Association ACLS Provider issued card required within 6 months of employment start date.
- Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course, or PALS Pediatric Advanced Life Support, or PALS Instructor must be obtained within 60 months of employment start date.
- CNOR required.
- RNFA required.
- Minimum 5 years of previous experience or completion of Perioperative Nursing course required.
