The Surgical Services Manager oversees the daily operations and activities of the Operating Room (OR) department. This role is responsible for managing departmental functions to achieve quality improvement, fiscal stability, productivity, and patient satisfaction goals established by the Director. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to: planning, preparing, and overseeing staff schedules; providing input on hiring, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions.
The Manager supervises RN, CST, FA, schedulers, OR aides, anesthesia staff, and sterile processing technicians. They oversee operations across the OR, CVOR, anesthesia, and sterile processing departments. The role involves developing collaborative relationships with hospital leadership, physicians, and staff—both internal and external—to ensure efficient and effective department functioning. Additionally, the Manager ensures compliance with JCAHO standards, hospital policies, and procedures.
They are responsible for managing supplies and equipment, fostering teamwork with physicians and healthcare providers, promoting customer satisfaction, and ensuring appropriate resource utilization.
Qualifications:
- Nursing Diploma or ASN required; BSN preferred
- Minimum 3 years of RN OR experience; 1 year leadership experience
- CNOR preferred
- Current FL RN license required or appropriate compact licensure. If compact license held, active FL RN license required within 90 days of hire or ARNP
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) required for RN's on all nursing clinical units; or BLS, ACLS or PALS Instructor issued by AHA or American Red Cross
