The Director of Sales is accountable for leading the sales organization to meet or exceed revenue, sales, and profitability targets, driving business growth, and building a high-performance sales culture. This individual will develop and implement sales strategies, manage a team of sales professionals, and collaborate with other departments to align sales efforts with company goals. The Director of Sales is responsible for identifying market opportunities, establishing sales objectives, and ensuring customer satisfaction through effective relationship management.
Essential duties and responsibilities include developing and executing the company's sales strategy to meet business objectives and revenue targets, analyzing market trends, customer needs, and competitor activities to refine the sales strategy and uncover growth opportunities, establishing sales goals and performance metrics, leading sales planning efforts, managing, mentoring, and developing a high-performing sales team, setting clear performance expectations, providing regular feedback, and conducting performance evaluations to ensure the team meets or exceeds sales targets, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement within the sales organization, leading efforts to recruit, onboard, and retain top sales talent, identifying and pursuing new business opportunities, partnerships, and markets to drive revenue growth and expand market share, building and maintaining strong relationships with key customers, prospects, and stakeholders to ensure long-term partnerships, leading efforts to penetrate new markets, industries, and verticals to increase the company's reach and influence, collaborating with marketing on lead generation, demand creation, and go-to-market initiatives, ensuring the sales team delivers excellent customer service and maintains strong relationships with existing clients to drive repeat business and customer loyalty, overseeing the development of customer-specific strategies to address unique needs and challenges, serving as a senior point of contact for high-value clients and strategic accounts, addressing any issues or concerns, working closely with the marketing, product, finance, and operations teams to ensure alignment across departments and support the sales strategy, partnering with the product management team to ensure that the sales force is well-versed in the company's product offerings and value propositions, collaborating with marketing on sales enablement initiatives, ensuring the sales team has access to the tools, resources, and content they need to succeed, monitoring and evaluating sales performance using key performance indicators (KPIs), sales analytics, and CRM systems to ensure the team is on track to meet objectives, analyzing data and trends to inform decision-making and drive process improvements, ensuring continuous optimization of the sales process, providing regular sales performance reports and insights to senior leadership, recommending corrective actions or adjustments as needed, managing the sales budget, ensuring effective allocation of resources to meet sales objectives, monitoring and controlling expenses related to sales activities to maintain cost-effectiveness and profitability, ensuring investments in sales technology, training, and personnel are aligned with long-term sales goals and deliver strong ROI, and all other duties as assigned.
Education, qualifications, skills, and abilities include a bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Sales, Marketing, or a related field, or equivalent experience. Master's degree preferred. Minimum 7 years of experience in sales related role, with at least 3 years of management experience in a sales environment. Experience in building and managing successful sales teams, preferably in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment. Strong knowledge of sales methodologies, CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce), and sales performance metrics.
Experience in developing and executing sales strategies in both B2B and B2C environments. Ability to work collaboratively across departments and build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Travel estimated to be 50%. Valid Driver's license and approved driving record. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.).
