Heavy Equipment Mechanic, Automotive Technician, Automotive Mechanic, Diesel Mechanic
Skilled mechanical and body work in the maintenance and repairs of all types of automotive, trucks, specialized vehicles, and construction equipment.
Salary will be determined depending on qualifications of candidates who exceed the minimum requirements as outlined within the job description.
Additional compensation based on licensure.

Responsibilities- Inspect, diagnose, repair, and locate mechanical difficulties on county vehicles and equipment; perform minor and major repairs of equipment, engines, and other major drive train components.
- Diagnose, maintain, and repair various system components, including ignition systems, hydraulic systems, brake systems, and other components.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repairs.
- Perform preventative maintenance inspections and repairs on vehicles and equipment; perform daily and annual vehicle safety inspections and necessary repairs.
- Maintain and repair various light equipment including air compressors, small cranes, and generators.
- Maintain cleanliness of work area and tools; ensure compliance with established and county-approved safety procedures.
- Maintain work, time, and material records using the automated shop management system.
- Assist other technicians in the performance of mechanical repairs as required.
Performs duties as assigned/necessary which are related, or logical in assignment to the position.
In the event of an emergency, all employees are considered essential personnel and may be required to perform alternate duties.
Qualifications- High school diploma or GED and five (5) years' experience (preferred: graduate from automotive or heavy equipment technical training).
- Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver's License (Class B CDL is preferred).
- Master ASE Automotive Certification.
- ASE Refrigerant Recovery and Recycling Certified.
- Five (5) years' experience in the repair and maintenance of IC engines, transmissions, electrical systems, hydraulics, brakes and suspension work.
- Diagnostic experience with various software systems, foreign and domestic.
- Ability to diagnose and repair various equipment, machinery and tools.
- Proficient use of hand/shop tools and diagnostic equipment.
Position is required to participate in an On-Call rotation and may be required to work after normal business hours according to applicable County policy (e.g., Call Out or Emergency-Disaster).
All employees must attend Seminole County required training. Department specific training per position may be required.
