Diesel Technician - 4.5 Billion PE-backed shop
Salary: $28 - $32 per hour
About the RoleThis is a hands‑on Diesel Technician role supporting a modern fleet of vacuum trucks and hydro excavation equipment. You’ll handle preventative maintenance, routine repairs, and basic diagnostics to keep equipment safe, compliant, and ready for customers. This is a good fit for someone who wants consistent work, exposure to specialized equipment, and a clear path into more advanced diagnostics.
What You’ll Be Doing Maintenance & Repairs- Execute daily work assignments based on the Plan of the Day
- Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, and routine repairs
- Troubleshoot basic mechanical and electrical issues; elevate complex problems as needed
- Complete standard service work including filters, fluids, bag changes, and general upkeep
- Ensure required parts are available prior to starting jobs
- Complete Check‑In / Check‑Out inspections on incoming and outgoing units
- Maintain accurate records in Fleetio (or similar system)
- Submit daily documentation to Operations and Accounting
- Keep assigned trucks and work areas clean, organized, and ready for use
- Follow all DOT, federal, and state regulations when operating vehicles
- Conduct and document pre‑trip and post‑trip inspections
- Maintain valid DOT medical certification
- Use proper PPE and follow all shop safety protocols
- Report any safety concerns, defects, or incidents immediately
- Assist with basic equipment walk‑throughs for customers
- Respond to customer questions professionally
- Support team priorities to ensure fleet uptime
- 2–5+ years of diesel or heavy equipment experience
- Strong understanding of PMs, brakes, suspension, and general repairs
- Basic diagnostic ability (mechanical and electrical)
- Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, hands‑on environment
- CDL is a plus (or willingness to obtain)
