HVAC Commercial Service Tech - Sanford, FL

Job Summary

The Commercial Service Technician will test and troubleshoot AC systems, continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes, to ensure compatibility and safety of the system.

• Work from ladders, scaffolds, and roofs.
• Troubleshoot, maintain, modify, and repair heating, ventilating, and air conditioning systems and equipment (reciprocating chillers, rotary screw chillers, heat exchangers, fans, pumps, electric and pneumatic controls, and associated safety devices) to operate at peak efficiency.
• Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical wiring, equipment, appliances, and fixtures.
• Provide preliminary sketches and cost estimates for materials and services.
• Diagnose malfunctioning systems, locate breakdown causes, and correct problems.
• Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components.
• Inspect electrical systems for hazards or defects; adjust or repair to ensure compliance with codes, and advise management of hazardous equipment.
• Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures based on job specs and local codes.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
• Repair and maintain washers, dryers, and small appliances.
• Plan, monitor, install, and adjust full range of HVAC equipment via an energy management system.
• Perform installation of mechanical systems, including piping and modifications to existing facility’s cooling systems.
• Utilize and update blueprints, technical manuals, manufacturer files, and other records.
• Monitor work of outside contractors for code compliance and report to supervisor.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on packaged units, split coil systems, air compressors, pumps, air handlers, condensers, chillers, and heat exchangers.
• Must perform duties and responsibilities of a Journeyman level mechanic with strong background in HVAC and refrigeration equipment, operating and troubleshooting industrial systems.

• Ability to troubleshoot single and three‑phase installations.
• Ability to work with tablet, laptop, or desktop devices.
• Clean driving record (no more than 3 points in 12 months).
• Ability to pass a pre‑employment drug test.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, which may include weekends.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to solve basic math problems.

Three to five years of related experience required.

• Prolonged periods standing, crawling, climbing.
• Must be able to lift 45 pounds at times.
