The Briar Team, a leading Cleveland construction firm, seeks a Field Mechanic to service and repair heavy equipment used on commercial and residential projects. In this on-site role, you'll diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and diesel engine issues, perform preventative maintenance, and complete safety inspections to keep machinery operating reliably. Working closely with supervisors and operators, you'll prioritize repairs, document service work, and uphold strict safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, repair, and maintain heavy construction equipment in the field and shop
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance and safety inspections on machinery
  • Troubleshoot hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems to minimize downtime
  • Document all repairs, parts used, and maintenance activities accurately
  • Operate service trucks, tools, and diagnostic equipment safely and efficiently
  • Collaborate with project managers and operators to schedule and prioritize repairs
  • Ensure compliance with company, OSHA, and manufacturer safety standards
  • Assist with equipment setup, testing, and commissioning on new projects
  • Maintain clean, organized work areas and properly store tools and parts
  • Provide occasional on-call or after-hours support for urgent equipment issues
