CDL Driver – Central Florida (Class A or

B)

Waste Pro is hiring energetic CDL drivers for residential refuse collection routes in Central Florida. Drivers operate refuse collection vehicles on pre‑assigned and special routes, oversee helpers, perform pre‑ and post‑trip checks, and maintain truck cleanliness while adhering to DOT and company guidelines.

SUMMARY OF POSITION

Waste Pro Residential Driver operates refuse collection vehicles on assigned routes. The driver oversees helpers following safety and operational procedures, performs pre‑trip and post‑trip truck checks and cleaning, and assists other duties as assigned. Performance is reviewed through direct observation and route discussions.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Valid Class A or B CDL for the state of employment and a clean driving record.
  • Minimum age of 21 years.
  • Knowledge of refuse collection policies, DOT rules, and state operating requirements.
  • Normal hearing, vision, and body motion with or without correction.
  • Ability to drive rear‑end, side‑end, front‑end, or roll‑off loading refuse trucks, including operations with a right‑hand driver position.
  • Ability to manipulate heavy equipment controls.
  • Ability to follow a designated refuse collection route or work schedule.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to maintain written records and submit service responses.
  • Proficient spoken and written English for communication with customers, coworkers, and dispatch.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Safely drive the truck on its pre‑established route in accordance with decision‑driving principles and within prescribed time limits, collecting and dumping garbage and refuse, and unloading at the landfill or transfer station.
  • Provide courteous, expeditious customer service to the public and customers, exhibiting a positive attitude toward company and municipal goals.
  • Ensure garbage and recyclables at residences are properly collected; may require using the back door and tagging improper refuse containers.
  • Perform daily pre‑ and post‑trip inspections, complete safety lane activity and DVIRs in accordance with company and DOT guidelines.
  • Maintain a clean truck, washing the exterior weekly and performing detailed inspections of under‑hood components, bearings, fluid levels, and air tires.
  • Perform manual duties in cleaning scattered refuse, moving and emptying large trash bins with truck hydraulics.
  • Prepare, maintain, and submit required company and regulation‑mandated reports and documents.
  • Ensure the safety of all persons operating or working on the vehicle during the designated route.
  • Comply with all DOT and state requirements for commercial motor vehicle operators.
  • Work during emergency situations as required.
  • OTHER JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Attend and participate in corporation‑sponsored training courses as assigned.
    • Stay current with the technology used by Waste Pro.
    • Perform any additional duties assigned by the supervisor.
    WORK ENVIRONMENT

    Work in a variety of environmental conditions, including wide temperature ranges, snow, rain, wind, and extreme weather. Noise, vibrations, fumes, odors, and dust may be present.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Physically able to push or pull independently 50 pounds between 800 and 1,000 times a day.
  • Physically able to lift independently 50 pounds from the ground to waist height between 800 and 1,000 times a day.
  • Physically able to get up and down from the cab of a commercial motor vehicle between 800 and 1,000 times a day.
  • Physically able to bend at the waist and knees between 800 and 1,000 times a day.
  • Physically able to work 8 to 12 hours in extreme weather conditions.
