Maine Health Cancer Care is seeking a General Oncologist to join the Division of Hematology and Medical Oncology at its Sanford location. The Sanford practice is located in Sanford, Maine, a family-friendly historic mill town situated in the heart of York county. Sanford is ideally situated within the scenic Sanford lakes region, and is within easy driving distance of scenic coastal beaches in Kennebunkport, the White Mountain region in New Hampshire, and the thriving arts and dining scene in Portland, Maine.
The successful candidate will work closely with colleagues in an established medical oncology practice affiliated with Maine Medical Center, an integral part of the Maine Health Cancer Care Network. General oncologists within the practice evaluate and treat patients with a range of hematologic and oncologic conditions and are supported by subspecialists throughout the Maine Health system. Participation in system-wide multidisciplinary subspecialty tumor boards is encouraged, and a 1 day/week subspecialty clinic at the primary Maine Health Cancer Center campus in Scarborough/Portland is available for candidates with subspecialty interest.

The cancer and hematology programs have grown significantly over the past three years and exceed 80% market share across the state of Maine. The programs are academically affiliated with the Tufts University School of Medicine and include a fellowship training program as well as robust clinical and translational research efforts, with membership in both NCORP and the NCI cooperative groups.
Prior experience in oncology within an academic health system or academically oriented private practice is preferred, although strong candidates in the early stages of their careers will be considered.
