Sanford Middle School Resource Room Teacher

Sanford Middle School anticipates a full-time opening for a Resource Room Teacher for the  school year, pending final approval of the school budget. This position supports students eligible for IDEA services by promoting successful learning outcomes in both resource and general education settings. The Resource Room Teacher will manage an assigned caseload and is responsible for the development, revision, and implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).

Regular communication with students, families, and staff is an essential component of this role. This position includes:

• Providing direct academic instruction in a special education setting
• Supporting students in grades 78 in Math and English Language Arts
• Collaborating with general education teachers to support inclusive classroom practices
• Monitoring student progress and adjusting instruction to meet diverse learning needs

The ideal candidate will:

• Demonstrate skill in supporting students with a range of learning needs, including specific learning disabilities and behavioral challenges
• Work collaboratively with administration, the IEP Coordinator, school counselors, and instructional staff
• Foster both academic and social-emotional growth in students

Qualifications:

• Maine #282 Special Education certification (or eligibility to obtain)
• Current CHRC (fingerprinting) certification
