About the Role – This position is physically located in Sanford, ME.As the Electrical Product Engineer, you will support key product initiatives for Bio‑Safety Cabinets and associated equipment. You will design, develop, and test electrical products and subsystems to ensure they meet quality, performance, and reliability standards. This position will support new product development, improvements to existing products, resolution of customer concerns, and other key initiatives.
ResponsibilitiesResearch, design and implement projects based on:
- Reliability
- Applicable codes and regulatory standards
- Create specifications for outsourcing all related parts and components
- Create and review drawings and diagrams for manufacturing/assembly
- Prepare cost evaluations for management
- Obtain required Standard Agency (NRTL) approvals
- Prepare and processing Engineering Change documentation for product improvements.
- Analyze, troubleshoot and resolve electrical issues, Answer electrical questions for other departments and customers, Provide expertise in electrical testing procedures
- Research, qualify and implement replacements for discontinued components
- Prototype, test, and integrate hardware and software
- Conduct feasibility studies and risk assessments
Other duties as assigned
Physical Requirements- Must be able to work for extended periods of time on a computer (up to 100% of the time on any given day)
- Must be able to lift materials and parts weighing between 30-40 lbs. occasionally (10%-20% of the time)
- Must be able to work on elevated stands, climb stepladders, work overhead and work in a standing position occasionally (25% - 35% of the time)
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering required
- Min 5 years experience in electrical product design and development. Experience with air handling, motors / blowers, and PLC controls a plus.
- Experience with control systems required.
- Experience with programming languages and embedded software in product applications preferred.
- Knowledge and working experience of CAD software a plus.
- Knowledge of industrial standards and regulations including UL, CE, and other standards.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Knowledge of project management disciplines required. Working experience in a project management environment a plus.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
- Must be willing to work overtime as necessary. Extra hours may be required during business peaks.
