We are seeking a customer-focused Technology Support Technician to join our team and help keep our schools connected, running smoothly, and ready for learning every day.
Position OverviewAs a year-round Technology Support Technician, you will primarily be the face of tech support for the middle school, Adult Education and the Bridge Program. At times, you will assist staff in other buildings, depending on current projects. This isn't just about sitting behind a desk fixing devices—it's a dynamic role where you will manage student and staff devices, troubleshoot software and hardware issues, perform minor repairs, and deliver exceptional support to our educators and students.
PrimaryResponsibilities
- Serve as the first point of contact for technical assistance via helpdesk ticket system, phone, or in person.
- Manage provisioning, deployment, imaging, and inventory of district devices (Chromebooks, laptops, iPads, desktop computers).
- Diagnose and resolve hardware/software issues and perform minor physical repairs (e.g., replacing screens, keyboards, batteries).
- Assist with basic network troubleshooting, classroom displays, printers, and peripheral equipment.
- Maintain accurate logs of support tickets, inventory changes, and repair histories.
- Previous experience in a technical support, helpdesk, or similar environment; experience in K-12 education is a plus.
- Comfort with Chrome
OS, Windows, macOS, iOS and basic hardware knowledge. - Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills; ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
- Problem-solving mindset: resourceful and able to research solutions.
- Physical ability to lift up to 40 lbs and move around school buildings.
- Must pass a Maine Department of Education criminal history record check (CHRC) fingerprinting approval.
