Job Summary

The Material Service Shipper Receiver’s primary responsibility is the safe transfer of material from Giebel Building production to building one for storage or additional processing, loading of customer orders, and the receipt of all inbound freight. The role maintains department compliance with all company policies and procedures, accident and spill reporting, issuing work orders, safe work permits and lockout/tagout when necessary.

The MSSR works with the Department Manager to identify personnel, procedural or mechanical conditions impacting the department, recommend and help implement solutions.

Responsibilities
  • Prioritize daily work.
  • Deal with other departments and external requests.
  • Expedite material as required.
  • Communicate and confer with Manager as required to keep Manager informed and achieve department goals.
  • Report all incidents per Sanford Plant Safety and Environmental standards.
  • Ensure all personnel within the Department are wearing proper PPE.
  • Work with Department manager to ensure equipment and process perform at maximum efficiency to achieve optimum throughput safely and accurately.
  • Complete at least one ESP review per quarter.
  • Perform all duties in a safe and orderly manner, according to SOPs. Correctly use all safety equipment when applicable. Adhere to all safety requirements according to the Sanford Plant Safety Standards.
  • Ensure the area (racks, industrial vehicle equipment, raw material) is in safe condition and/or stored properly.
  • Performs all work in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Ensure accurate product labeling for inbound and outbound goods.
  • Properly segregate and label non-conforming materials.
  • Report any quality concerns to management when applicable.
  • Ensure proper disposition of returned materials as well as accurate recording.
  • Keep fire lanes/hoses accessible.
  • Ensure all materials are properly put away in the warehouse, follow all safety guidelines to ensure products are stowed correctly.
  • Cycle count FG’s as outlined by Department Manager (must be able to print SAP inventory reports without supervision). Participate in physical inventory counts as required.
  • Put away/store raw materials used in production.
  • Load/unload trailers when necessary (includes but not limited to outbound shipments & inbound receipts).
  • Verify all incoming receipts, confirm description & quantities are correct and sign the receipt. Note any discrepancies or damage on the delivery receipt.
  • Verify the quantity of items loaded equals the BOL paperwork and bring any discrepancies to the planner’s attention.
  • Load scrap trailers as needed (3‑5 times/month).
  • Load Scrap cardboard / Poly bale trailers as required.
  • Prepare IPM shipments out of Giebel as necessary.
  • Must be able to drive the shuttle truck.
  • Inspect storage trailers when required.
  • Perform weekly TPM tasks in accordance with TPM program.
  • Any other tasks as assigned by Department Manager.
Safety
  • Carry out work activities safely according to JSAs or SOPs where they are available. Use correct safety equipment. Comply with the specifics of our overall safety program.
  • Observe safety environment in which you work to offer constructive criticism toward correction of unsafe practices on the part of your fellow workers, unsafe operating conditions, and unsafe equipment.
Quality
  • Responsible for the quality of shift output, both physical quality and quality of work.
Housekeeping
