Job Summary

Responsible for shift operations of the Security department, overseeing safety and security of guests, team members and company assets. Monitors security personnel, ensures compliance with policies, schedules and evaluates subordinate staff, and manages shift staffing and overtime.

Job Qualifications
  • Minimum 21 years of age, able to obtain and maintain Maine Gaming Commission license.
  • Demonstrated security enforcement ability with investigative skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Prior experience as a Security Shift Manager.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Oversee safety and security of all customers, team members and company assets during shift.
  • Monitor activities of security personnel to ensure compliance with department and property policies.
  • Promote a working environment where subordinates perform duties within guidelines, procedures, and laws.
  • Maintain confidential treatment of information, and provide clear incident reports, daily logs, and documentation for shift activities.
  • Investigate and follow up on all shift reports and incidents.
  • Communicate effectively with staff and management regarding property activities.
  • Perform subordinate duties as required.
  • Respond to, evaluate, and provide first aid; notify emergency medical services for medical crises.
  • Serve as liaison between law enforcement and casino management.
  • Conduct emergency drills within the security department.
  • Support and guide all casino departments and personnel as needed.
  • Understand gaming laws, state regulations, departmental policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Mediating and solving problems for employees and guests; maintain effective communication within and beyond shift.
  • Identify operational opportunities and work with upper management to recommend solutions.
  • Attend all required mandatory training classes when scheduled.
  • Manage key control and inventory for sensitive keys; operate the key watcher and control access.
  • Ensure SAFLOK‑program locks are operational.
  • Replace damaged keys and maintain accurate spare key box inventory and logs.
  • Verify shipments, inventory of cards, dice, and chips; ensure proper destruction.
  • Log and account for all visitors, vendors, and contractors on property.
  • Responsible for scheduling, mentoring, and disciplining shift personnel.
  • Maintain adequate staffing to ensure shift integrity.
  • Maintain payroll and time‑keeping records for shift personnel.
  • Ensure that officers on designated shift report to the Senior Shift Manager.
  • Job Specifications
    • Complete understanding of gaming laws, state regulations, and internal controls.
    • Strong reporting skills.
    • Ability to deescalate conflict and resolve disputes.
    Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

    The work requires standing, walking, climbing, reaching, pushing, pulling, and lifting up to 40 lbs; moving a wheeled cart up to 300 lbs; exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds frequently, and up to 10 pounds constantly. Exposure to loud noise, close quarters, extreme weather conditions, and the need to maintain composure during emergencies may occur.
