The Career Center Coordinator leads the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of Central Carolina Community College's Career Services initiatives. The Coordinator enhances students' career readiness by providing career coaching, facilitating employer partnerships, coordinating workforce development programming, and managing career-related events that connect students and alumni with employment opportunities.
The Coordinator serves as the primary liaison between the College and regional employers, workforce agencies, and community partners to strengthen career pathways that support student success and regional economic development. This position reports to the Associate Vice President of Student Engagement and serves students across the College's Chatham, Harnett, and Lee County campuses.
This position may have occasional travel between campuses and for training. Occasional after hours may be required. Some evening and weekend work may be required for departmental events and meetings. Office environment located on a CCCC campus. Frequent interaction with students, faculty, and staff. Ability to lift up to 20 lbs (event materials, supplies).
Essential DutiesCareer Development & Student Success
- Provide comprehensive career coaching and employment readiness services to current students and alumni.
- Assist students with program selection, career exploration, career pathway planning, resume and cover letter development, interview preparation, job search strategies, and professional networking.
- Deliver individual and group career advising sessions on all campuses as need arises.
- Develop and facilitate workshops and classroom presentations focused on career readiness, employability skills, and workforce preparation.
- Promote experiential learning opportunities including internships, apprenticeships, service learning, and work-based learning experiences.
- Assist students in developing career readiness competencies including communication, professionalism, teamwork, leadership, critical thinking, technology and career self-development.
- Assist students in developing professional online profiles and networking strategies, including Linked In.
- Support students in successfully transitioning from education to employment.
- Provide guidance related to transfer and graduate education planning as appropriate.
Employer & Workforce Partnership Development
- Develop, expand and sustain strategic relationships with employers, workforce development organizations, economic development agencies, chambers of commerce, and community partners.
- Recruit employers to participate in Career Services programming and hiring initiatives.
- Identify regional workforce needs and collaborate with academic divisions to strengthen career pathways.
- Expand employment opportunities for students and alumni through strategic employer engagement.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for employers utilizing Career Services resources.
Career Events & Program Management
- Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of Career Services programming including:
- Career fairs, Employer recruiting events, Networking opportunities, Employer panels, Interview days
- And Career readiness workshops
- Develop comprehensive project plans, event timelines, and implementation strategies.
- Coordinate logistics before, during, and after events.
- Create and monitor event budgets while ensuring efficient use of departmental resources.
- Assess program effectiveness and utilize data to recommend continuous improvements.
Career Services Operations
- Coordinate the day-to-day operations of the Career Services office.
