Job Summary
The Electrical Maintenance Mechanic will oversee the performance and maintenance of large production machinery and will be responsible for maintenance activities in both Phase 1 and Phase 2 in all departments—forging, casting, finishing, and machining operations.
Duties/Responsibilities- Performs daily line walks in Forging, Casting & Finishing departments.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair plant equipment involving checking voltages, changing out bad components, switching out gauges, and making camera and software adjustments.
- Program PLCs and diagnose machine faults/failures related to CNC, Servo, AC Motion Controls, and related electronic components.
- Performs preventive & predictive maintenance inspections and service on machines.
- Identifies the causes of unexpected breakdowns of machines (root cause analysis).
- Repairs broken machines quickly and efficiently.
- Prepares reports documenting work performed in CMMS system.
- Cleans, organizes, inventories, stocks, and otherwise maintains shop areas, parts, tools, and supplies.
- Identifies faults or hazards.
- Troubleshoots system failures.
- Reviews blueprints to understand wiring placement.
- Tests electrical systems with megger, voltmeters, and ohmmeters.
- Responds to fault requests.
- Knowledge of electrical & electronics with strong problem‑solving skills.
- Understanding of schematics and program reading.
- Knowledgeable in a variety of machine software, PLC, HMI & Automation.
- Skill & knowledge of Hydraulic & Pneumatic systems.
- Skill & knowledge on material handling systems, conveyors, cranes.
- Ability & skill to work & handle gases like Natural Gas, Chlorine, Argon, Nitrogen & Oxygen.
- Ability to follow step‑by‑step procedures.
- Works well independently and with others.
- Good communication skills.
- Organized with attention to detail.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment.
- Associate’s Degree in Electronics curriculum preferred.
- 2-5 years of experience troubleshooting electronic controls in a manufacturing setting.
- Prolonged periods standing and walking.
- Able to bend, stretch, push, pull, and move as needed to reach, clean, and service machinery.
- Must be able to visually inspect machines.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to climb the ladder & reach top of presses & equipment.
