This role is responsible for performing advanced electrical controls tasks, including designing, modifying, and optimizing PLC programs, integrating complex control systems, and troubleshooting high-level issues. Applies advanced knowledge of schematics, communication networks, motion control, and safety standards. Provides leadership in machine setup, debugging, and customer service both in-house and on-site. Serves as a mentor and technical resource to junior team members.
RequirementsEducation & Experience
- High school diploma or GED required;
Associate or bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering technology, Automation, or related field preferred. - 4+ years of experience in controls, automation, or electrical assembly.
- Demonstrated expertise with PLC programming (Allen-Bradley strongly preferred) and HMI development.
- Experience with motion control systems, robotics, and industrial networks required.
- Proven track record of successful troubleshooting and customer support.
- Prior experience mentoring or leading technical teams strongly preferred.
- Expert in reading, creating, and modifying electrical schematics.
- Strong knowledge of PLCs, HMIs, servo drives, VFDs, and communication protocols.
- Skilled in integrating motion systems, robotics, and safety circuits.
- Coaches and develops team members.
- Provides technical direction on projects and problem-solving.
- Identifies root causes quickly and proposes effective solutions.
- Applies critical thinking to resolve issues with minimal supervision.
- Clearly communicates technical information to peers, engineers, and customers.
- Writes accurate documentation of changes, updates, and troubleshooting steps.
- Works cooperatively within the assembly and engineering teams.
- Provides peer training and supports knowledge sharing.
- Flexible to shifting priorities between assembly, troubleshooting, and customer needs.
- Willing to travel for customer site support as required.
Regularly required to stand, use hands, and lift up to 50 pounds.
Exposure to moderate noise and potentially hazardous equipment, with required use of protective gear.
