Receives direction from the Recreation Director, Supervisor, and under the general supervision of the Pool Manager. Candidates selected for these positions will perform a variety of duties including but not limited to: organizing and conducting a well-balanced aquatic program at the Sanger City Pool, lifeguarding during recreation swim hours, supervising the pool deck, enforcing regulations, supervising and scheduling all pool personnel, establishing emergency procedures for the staff, assisting with pool maintenance, attending staff meetings and service training programs, and performing other related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications- Completion of 10th grade.
- Minimum age: 16 years.
- At least 1 year of experience in lifeguarding or aquatic managerial positions.
- Valid certifications: CPR Certificate, First Aid Certificate issued by the American Red Cross or similar agency, and American Red Cross Lifeguarding Certificate, YMCA Lifeguarding Certificate, or other nationally recognized lifeguarding certification.
- Must remain in the pool area at all times.
- Must be able to remain alert with no lapses of consciousness in a warm environment with air temperatures of 80 degrees or higher and exposure to full sunlight.
- Perform all physical aspects of the position, including walking, standing, bending, reaching, and lifting up to 50 pounds at a time in a warm pool environment.
Note:
This position is a seasonal summer position. Work schedule will be flexible but may include weekends, evenings, and/or early mornings.
- Maintains constant surveillance of patrons in the facility; acts immediately and appropriately to secure safety of patrons in the event of emergency.
- Provides emergency care and treatment as required until the arrival of emergency medical services.
- Supervises pool deck and ensures that all pool patrons obey the facility rules.
- Presents professional appearance and attitude at all times and maintains a high standard of customer service.
- Attends in-service training sessions and other meetings as required.
- Assists in the inspection of the facility, equipment and supplies.
- Assists in the opening and closing of the facility.
- Be alert for hazardous situations when guarding your area and report violations to the Pool Manager.
- Ensure that all activities are conducted in a safe and healthy manner, and that any play and work areas are clean and free of all safety hazards.
- Assists with cleaning of bathrooms and concession stand area.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
