Schedule: Full time / Part time

We have multiple entities and multiple locations. As we continue to scale, we are seeking an experienced Controller to oversee our financial operations and provide strategic financial guidance to ownership and management.
PositionSummary
The Controller will be responsible for managing the company’s accounting functions, financial reporting, and internal controls on a full time / part-time basis. This role is ideal for a seasoned accounting professional who understands inventory-heavy, operational businesses such as lumber, manufacturing and distribution.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee day-to-day accounting operations (AP, AR, payroll, and general ledger)
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Manage inventory accounting, job costing, and margin analysis
- Ensure accurate revenue recognition and cost tracking
- Maintain internal controls and accounting policies
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management
- Coordinate with external CPA firm for tax filings and year-end close
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to ownership
- Support audits, banking relationships, and lender reporting
- Update accounting procedures and transfer of information
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA preferred but not required)
- 7+ years of accounting or controller-level experience
- Experience in lumber, building materials, manufacturing, or distribution strongly preferred
- Strong understanding of inventory and cost accounting
- Proficiency with accounting software (Quick Books, Genesys or similar ERP systems)
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and manage deadlines with minimal supervision
