Data Entry Technician (Extra Help)
Orange County Registrar of Voters (ROV) will begin accepting applications for the Data Entry Technician (Extra Help) position on Wednesday, February 18, 2026. This recruitment will be posted for a minimum of five (5) business days and remain open on a continuous basis until the needs of the Agency are met. Qualified applicants are encouraged to apply immediately. The first review of applications will be on or about Friday, February 20, 2026.

These are Extra Help temporary/seasonal positions (these are NOT permanent positions). These positions will often require overtime, both in the evenings and on weekends.
Registrar of VotersThe Registrar of Voters, a nationally recognized and award-winning agency, is responsible for conducting elections, verifying petitions and maintaining voter records in Orange County, the fifth largest voting jurisdiction in the United States with 1.9 million active registered voters. The department receives funding from the County’s General Fund, as well as from federal, state, and local reimbursements. The staff includes 54 full-time employees and numerous extra help employees supporting various election‑related positions.
The department is responsible for all components of election management.

About the PositionThe Data Entry Technician-Extra Help position will fulfill staffing needs within the Voter Data Services Department. As a Data Entry Technician-Extra Help, job duties may include:
- Using a keyboard or data entry terminal to enter alpha and numerical data
- Reviewing documents for completeness, accuracy, and consistency with procedures prior to entry
- Extracting data from documents and coding for entry
- Verifying affidavits of new or re‑registering voters daily under tight deadlines
- Keying corrections to voter information to ensure the most up‑to‑date information
- Verifying signatures on petitions, registration affidavits, and returned Vote‑by‑Mail Ballots (VBM)
- Proofreading inputs to ensure accuracy
- Keying for long periods of time
- Performing additional duties as assigned
- Proficiency in computer systems, programs, and modern office practices
- Ability to enter data at an acceptable rate
- Understanding of procedures and regulations governing assigned areas
- Extracting data from documents and coding for entry using information codes
- Verifying affidavits and signatures under tight deadlines
- Checking for accuracy and proofreading inputs
- Performing repetitive tasks with high accuracy
