Orange County Probation Department assists the criminal justice system in Orange County, California by making a safer Orange County through positive change. Under the direction of the Chief Probation Officer and an executive team with an organizational structure comprised of four bureaus – Adult Operations, Juvenile Operations, Strategic Development, and Administrative Services, the Department impacts the community by using efficient, evidence-based and research supported practices to reduce crime and assist the Courts in managing offenders.
Probation staff work diligently to protect the safety of the community, assist victims, and provide growth opportunities to clients, at-risk community members, and justice involved individuals.
The Laundry Worker is responsible for receiving, sorting, washing, drying linen and/or soiled laundry, folding, pressing, sorting clothes and linens, and issuing of laundry items to the Orangewood Children and Family Center facility or OC Probation Department. The position inspects, sorts, and folds clean laundry by article, color, and size, and delivers and restocks clothing items in designated storage areas across multiple department locations.
This position is also responsible to fill clothing orders, expedite the delivery as requested, and perform inventory of clothes and personal hygiene items. This position plays a vital role in ensuring hygiene compliance for all youth housed in Juvenile Hall, camps, residential facilities and the Orangewood Children and Family Center.
Additional responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to:
- Organizing and maintaining clothing, footwear, office supplies, hygiene products, and other essential items.
- Working closely with supervisor in monitoring and replenishing supplies
- Issuing personal hygiene items and office supplies to cottages/residential facilities as needed
- Receiving and sorting clothes donations
- Requesting assistance from supervisor, vendor or Facilities Mechanic for laundry equipment repairs
- Bagging and separating contaminated laundry items
Social Services Agency
- The typical shift of the position is 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, Monday through Friday, and may work during weekends and holidays.
Orange County Probation
- The typical shift of the position is 6:00 am to 3:30 pm, Monday through Friday, and may work during weekends and holidays.
