Customer Service Representative – Bilingual Korean Vote Center / Election Representative (Extra Help)

Orange County Registrar of Voters (ROV) will begin accepting applications on Monday, February 21, 2026. The position is posted for a minimum of five (5) business days and will remain open on a continuous basis until the agency’s needs are met. Application processing will begin on Wednesday, February 25, 2026. Only online applications will be accepted.

NOTE: These are Extra Help temporary/seasonal positions (not permanent). They may require overtime, evenings, and weekends.

REGISTRAR OF VOTERS

The Registrar of Voters is a nationally recognized agency responsible for conducting elections, verifying petitions, and maintaining voter records in Orange County – the fifth largest voting jurisdiction in the United States with 1.9 million active registered voters. The department has 54 full‑time employees and many extra‑help workers who support various election‑related positions. Its mission is to provide the best possible service to the public.

ABOUT

THE POSITION

This role will fill Vote Center locations throughout Orange County for the June 02, 2026 Statewide Primary Election. Training is two days in mid‑March, and the work commitment is approximately seven days from May 27 to June 03, 2026.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process and assist voters
  • Issue ballots
  • Accept mail‑in ballots
  • Perform other election‑related tasks as assigned

Location: Selection will be based on a region. The region assignment includes:

  • Central Orange County (Anaheim, North Tustin, Orange, Santa Ana, Tustin, Villa Park)
  • South Orange County (Aliso Viejo, Dana Point, Ladera Ranch, Laguna Hills, Laguna Niguel, Lake Forest, Mission Viejo, Rancho Santa Margarita, San Clemente, San Juan Capistrano, Silverado Canyon, Trabuco Canyon)
  • West Orange County (Cypress, Fountain Valley, Garden Grove, Huntington Beach, Los Alamitos, Seal Beach, Stanton, Westminster)
  • North Orange County (Brea, Buena Park, Fullerton, La Habra, La Palma, Placentia, Yorba Linda)
  • Coast Orange County (Costa Mesa, Irvine, Laguna Beach, Laguna Woods, Newport Beach)
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
  • Commit to approximately ten days of service over a two‑month period.
  • Participate in remote and in‑person training.
  • Work the following schedule:
    • Set‑up day: TBD (Wednesday 5/27 / Thursday 5/28 / Friday 5/29)
    • Voting days:
      Saturday 5/30 to Tuesday 6/02
    • Takedown day:
      Wednesday 6/03
  • Work overtime, including evenings and weekends.
  • Patience with diverse ages, ethnicities, and skill levels.
  • Provide clear instructions and interact courteously with the public.
  • Effective verbal and written communication.
  • English literacy and speaking ability.
  • Bilingual Korean skills.
  • Computer literate: use laptop and database systems.
  • Self‑motivated, positive attitude, flexible and organized.
  • Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Work in a fast‑paced team environment.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Deliver supplies daily to assigned locations if required.
  • Respond to public inquiries with strong customer‑service skills.
  • Follow oral and written instructions.

PHYSICAL, MENTAL, AND ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS

Physical: Vision sufficient to read text, monitor, and fine print; ability to stand, sit, walk, stoop, bend, and use a keyboard and office equipment; prolonged sitting is required.

Mental: Logical reasoning, sound judgment, and calm focus in varied interpersonal situations.

Environmental: Work in an office environment with changing priorities, deadlines, and multiple concurrent assignments.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

All candidates must pass a background check covering employment history, professional references, and a criminal check.

RECRUITMENT PROCESS

The Administrative Services Department will screen applications to identify qualified candidates. Qualified applicants are referred to the next step and notified of subsequent procedures.

Applicants who meet both minimum and desirable qualifications will be invited to an online self‑administered assessment (weighted 100%). Only the most successful candidates move to the next step.
