CAD Drafter for a specialty contractor

Salary: $50,000 - $90,000 per year

We're a glazing specialty contractor that has done projects all throughout Southern California.

• Produce shop drawings and fabrication‑ready details for curtain wall, storefront, windows, entrances, interior glass, railings, and related glazing systems
• Interpret architectural/structural drawings, specifications, and addenda and translate them into clear glazing details and layouts
• Coordinate drawings with project teams and incorporate redlines, RFI responses, and field‑verified dimensions
• Develop and maintain drawing standards, layers, blocks, and templates to keep deliverables consistent
• Assist with material takeoffs and basic estimating support (glass sizes, aluminum members, hardware, anchors)
• Support submittal packages, including drawing sets, details, and product documentation
• Collaborate with manufacturers and vendors to align drawings with system requirements and lead times
• Organize and maintain project drawing files, revision logs, and documentation for internal and client use

• 0–6 years of CAD/drafting experience (construction, façade, glazing, or metal framing experience is a plus)
• Proficiency in AutoCAD (2D required); familiarity with Revit, Bluebeam, or similar tools is a plus
• Ability to read and understand architectural plans, elevations, sections, and details
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple drawing sets and deadlines
• Comfortable collaborating with PMs, supers, installers, and vendors to resolve drawing issues quickly
• Basic understanding of construction measuring, dimensions, and tolerances; field measurement experience is a plus
• Clear communication skills and a “bring solutions” mindset

• Experience with curtain wall/storefront systems, glazing hardware, or aluminum framing components
• Familiarity with AAMA/ASTM glazing standards, typical façade details, and common installation methods
• Experience producing submittal/shop drawing packages for commercial projects

• Certificate/Associate degree in Drafting, CAD, Architecture, Engineering Technology, or equivalent hands‑on experience

• Exposure to a variety of projects (commercial, multi‑family, tenant improvements, specialty glass)
• Clear growth path from entry‑level drafting support to lead drafter/detailer depending on experience
• Team environment where your drawings directly impact fabrication and successful installation
