Compensation: $18.00-$20.00 per hour SUMMARY
The Wooden Floor’s mission is to inspire and transform the lives of young people through the power of dance and access to higher education. Our Academic Program is a key part of this mission, providing individualized tutoring to students at our Education Centers. We believe in nurturing relationships and fostering a supportive, growth-oriented environment for both students and staff.
As a Tutor at The Wooden Floor, you will play a vital role in providing academic support to our students. You will work collaboratively within our Academic Program, focusing on personalized instruction that meets the unique needs of each student. Your ability to communicate effectively, listen actively, and maintain a positive demeanor will be crucial to your success.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES- Provide individualized in-person tutoring sessions in various subjects to students from elementary to high school levels.
- Assess each student’s strengths and weaknesses to create personalized learning plans.
- Assist students with homework, test preparation, and study strategies, as well as understanding their academic challenges and needs.
- Monitor and maintain students' academic progress, providing feedback and reports to the Academic Coordinator and parents.
- Foster a supportive and motivating environment that encourages student participation and learning.
- Collaborate with the Academic Coordinator to ensure alignment with the tutoring program’s goals and curriculum.
- Be flexible to work at both the Main Street and Depot at Santiago locations.
- Collaborate with other staff members to ensure the smooth operation of all programs and services offered by The Wooden Floor.
- Attend staff meetings and participate in professional development opportunities.

RequirementsEDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, education, humanities, or related fields, in process.
Some experience working with children in after-school tutoring programs, social service, recreation, or arts organization is a plus.
Knowledge of upper Math and Science subjects is a plus.
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
COMPUTER & EQUIPMENT SKILLSProficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Ability to maintain and update electronic and paper student records.
PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTSOccasionally bend, squat, crawl, climb, kneel, handle objects, push/pull, and reach above shoulder level.
Frequently sit, walk, and use fine finger movements.
Occasionally lift and carry loads up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift loads between 25-50 pounds.
OTHER JOB REQUIREMENTSAbility to pass a criminal background check.
Must have access to reliable transportation. If utilizing a personal vehicle, proof of insurance is required.
Assist with the execution of special events and activities as requested.
