Utility Engineer

This contractor role supports the Field Engineering group within Distribution Engineering. The engineer will work closely with Field Engineering teams to support capital project scoping, field-based assessments, and process improvement initiatives. The role emphasizes technical analysis, documentation, and collaboration with internal stakeholders to enhance system reliability and efficiency.

• Conduct field assessments and power system modeling (e.g., load flow studies).
• Support grid modernization, infrastructure replacement, and resiliency programs.
• Scope capital projects including overhead/underground conductor replacements, programmable capacitor control, and fuse upgrades.
• Document and track projects using CLIENT's Project Initiation Forms (PIFs) and Master Distribution Interface (MDI).
• Provide recommendations and documentation for system and process improvements.
• Assist in training and guiding engineering teams on new tools and procedures.

• Working knowledge of the distribution grid, automated equipment, and telemetry systems.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical maps and schematics.
• Familiarity with CLIENT applications (CYME, DMS, EMS, Circuit Viewer, ADMS etc.).
• Basic understanding of engineering principles and electric power flow.
• Experience with data validation, troubleshooting, and equipment testing.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Power Apps) for reporting and analysis.
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills with engineers, field crews, and stakeholders.
