We’re looking for a self-motivated and experienced Sr. Imaging Systems Engineer to join our dynamic community of collectors. This position will oversee the lifecycle of product photography, from equipment deployment and setup to the first and final image capture. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on lead, capable of mentoring a small team of imaging technicians and ensuring the efficient and high-quality production of product images that meet our brand’s high standards.
You’ll report directly to the Sr. Manager of Operations Engineering and work onsite from our Santa Ana, California office with occasional travel.
What You’ll Do
Lead the setup, calibration, and maintenance of imaging equipment, including DSLR/mirrorless cameras, various lighting setups, and machine vision stations (e.g., turntables, robotic arms).
Develop, document, and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for manual and automated product photography to ensure consistency and quality.
Mentor and train a small team of imaging technicians, providing clear direction, constructive feedback, and ongoing support.
Experience – Who You Are
- Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 3 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD; or equivalent work experience
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a lead role, with demonstrated ability to manage workflows and mentor peers
- Experience in a commercial imaging or automation imaging environment, with a strong emphasis on imaging hardware and controllers
- Hands-on experience with deploying, operating, and troubleshooting machine vision equipment is essential
Technical Skills
- Experience designing, calibrating and selecting machine vision inspection systems
- Proficiency with vision system software (e.g., Keyence, Basler, Cognex or similar)
- Capable in imaging QA and hardware selection for specific field of view and resolution requirements
- Proficiency with high-volume automated product photography systems (Ortery, Pylon, or similar), preferred
- In-depth knowledge of studio lighting techniques and equipment, preferred
- Expert proficiency with professional DSLR and mirrorless camera systems (e.g., Canon, Nikon, Sony) both variable and fixed focal lengths, preferred
- Basic knowledge of image editing in Adobe Photoshop is a plus
- Understanding of AI/Deep Learning applications in imaging is a plus
