Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesEssential Duties & Responsibilities:
The Quality Engineer will provide quality assurance support to an assigned program and/or area to ensure that the aerospace components are produced in accordance with customer and company quality requirements while maintaining production flow.
Under general direction, reviews and approves engineering manufacturing plans, process sheets, procedures and work instructions for proper and complete flow down of customer requirements to ensure compliance. Initiates root cause and corrective action requests to suppliers for non-conformances. Facilitates corrective action team investigations and submits short and long-term corrective action plans to customers. Serves as supplier/ customer liaison for quality related issues (i.e., customer audits, customer complaints, etc.)
and will ensure compliance with the specifications and drawings.

Position RequirementsRequired Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Review aerospace customer (OEM and Government) blueprints for incorporation into the quality plans.
- Collect, analyze, and present quality data including cost of quality, company scrap, rework, customer complaints, and internal audit results.
- Review and incorporate first article requirements and ensure production readiness.
- Generate inspection plans: characteristic accountability-sequence (balloon) all drawing characteristics, extract specification requirements for inspection, generate inspection method required equipment, and review and approve IMS.
- Ability to submit non-conformances to suppliers/customers.
- Knowledgeable of SPC, FMEA, PPAP, Gauge R&R, VSM, and lean manufacturing.
- Good verbal and written communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate and convey issues. Able to participate in technical discussions and work in a collaborative team-based environment.
- Disposition of nonconforming material (NMR).
- Background in aerospace auditing techniques, both internal and with suppliers.
- Strong background in Root Cause, Corrective Action, Preventative Action and Mistake proofing.
- Must be able to successfully navigate an agile work environment with shifting priorities.
Education & Experience
Required:
- BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field;
Six Sigma Black Belt preferred. - 5 - 10 years' experience in the quality assurance field and with aerospace OEM requirements.
- Knowledge of ISO
9000, AS9100, and NADCAP requirements are desirable. - Familiar with geometric tolerances, supplier surveillance techniques and special processes.
- Proficient written and verbal communication and computer skills.
- Experience with the following is desirable: layout inspection skills, DQR, mini-tab, related training, lean manufacturing, Microsoft Power Point, and Microsoft Project.
