• Develop and provide SPI/AOI/X-Ray programs and technical support for new product introduction (NPI)

• Monitor SPI/AOI/X-Ray inspection and detection windows and modify as necessary to increase machine capability, reduce false calls, and improve quality

• Continuously review and improve the strategy and technology used in SPI/AOI inspection processes

Troubleshooting & Quality

• Troubleshoot SMT process issues (SPI/AOI/X-Ray) to root cause and implement corrective actions in response to internal and external quality feedback

• Perform comprehensive line quality troubleshooting using sound engineering principles

• Analyze defect trends, generate reports, and recommend corrective actions to improve product quality

• Assist in major machine breakdown troubleshooting and coordinate repairs or maintenance as needed

• Work with Quality (QMM) on in-process and line audits

Systems, Equipment & Continuous Improvement

• Ensure area computers and network systems are maintained in operational condition, with inspection programs regularly updated and backed up

• Maintain and upgrade machine capability through engineering benchmarking projects

• Perform routine maintenance, updates, and calibration oversight on AOI and X-Ray equipment to ensure consistent performance

• Recommend and implement process improvements to enhance inspection accuracy, cycle time, and overall production efficiency

• Stay current on industry trends and AOI/X-Ray technology advancements to enhance inspection techniques

Collaboration & Training

• Participate in new product development discussions and contribute ideas in the areas of PCB assembly automation and process technology

• Work with the engineering systems team on new release processes for SPI/AOI/X-Ray-related programs

• Provide training in machine maintenance, operation, and detection processes to technical support personnel

• Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams, management, and customers

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Computer Engineering (or equivalent) (preferred)

• Minimum 3 years of related working experience in SMT/electronics manufacturing

• Experienced with SMT machinery and processes (screen printing, pick and place, reflow)

• Able to generate SPI/AOI programs and read/interpret board schematics and engineering drawings

• Expertise in engineering principles sufficient to perform comprehensive line quality troubleshooting and root cause analysis

• Working knowledge of IPC-A-610 acceptance criteria preferred

Physical Requirements:

· Ability to sit, stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, and use hands to operate standard office and inspection equipment.

· Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

· Must be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds occasionally.
