Role Summary
The Assistant Controller plays a critical role in supporting Finance Director in managing accounting operations for two Business Units. This position focuses on inventory control, cost accounting, and audit compliance, ensuring accurate financial reporting and adherence to industry standards. The role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

· Inventory & Cost Accounting
o Oversee inventory accounting processes, including valuation, reconciliation, and reporting.
o Maintain and analyze costs, variances, and manufacturing overhead allocations.
o Partner with operations and supply chain teams to ensure accurate inventory tracking and cost control.
· Program Finance & EAC Management
o Collaborate with Program Managers to monitor program financial performance.
o Review Estimate at Completion (EAC) reports, ensuring accuracy and alignment with program budgets.
o Track program costs, revenue recognition, and margin analysis for long-term contracts.
o Provide financial insights to support program decision-making and risk mitigation.
· Financial Reporting & Compliance
o Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
o Ensure compliance with internal policies, SOX requirements, and external regulations.
o Support internal and external audits, providing documentation and resolving inquiries.
o Manage general ledger activities, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
o Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll functions as needed.
o Assist with month-end and year-end close processes.
o Contribute to annual budgeting and periodic forecasting processes.
o Provide cost analysis and variance reporting to support decision-making.
· Process Improvement & Systems
o Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and improve efficiency.
o Support ERP system enhancements and automation initiatives.
o Supervise and mentor accounting staff, fostering a culture of accuracy and accountability.
Required Skills/Experience
· Strong background in inventory management, cost accounting, and audit support.
· Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Finance or Accounting.
· Formal training and in-depth experience in cost accounting, financial accounting, local, state, and federal tax regulations, and financial analysis & reporting.
· Minimum 5 years of accounting experience.
